Des Moines, IA (August 3, 2009) – Newkirk Law Firm, a civil rights law firm, has moved to a new office in the East Village, at 515 East Locust in Des Moines, Iowa. The firm is located on the 3rd floor of Village Place, a newly constructed, environmentally-friendly building designed for retail, office and residential use.

Tom Newkirk chose the East village because it personifies “a culture of diversity and a heightened sense of individual freedom,” which he said is the perfect environment for his clients. The unique location, along with the building’s eco-friendly and cost effective geo thermal system, caught Newkirk’s attention when he was looking for a space to house the new firm. “Our real estate agent, Jan Berg, Vice President of CB Richard Ellis/Hubbell Commercial, was quick to analyze our requirements and assist us in finding our new home. Beyond the distinctive culture of the area, this 3,668- square-foot space offers inspiring views of the Capitol and an attached parking ramp with a covered walkway.

The East village’s latest addition was completed by John Burgeson’s aptly named developing company Village Place, LLC. It is the first newly constructed mixed-use building with geothermal heating and cooling in the East Village. Newkirk commented, “I think it is important to support efforts (like John’s) to revive and renew areas of this city and professionals should consider the East Village a premier destination for their businesses.”
